Hi I'm Vinnetta Scrivo for howdini. I'm going to show you today how to reduce the puffiness under your eyes. Whether it's hereditary or stress, allergies or lack of sleep, we unfortunately do get puffiness underneath the eyes and there are several ways to combat that.
The eye area is very thin and delicate so you have to be very gentle. But, there are a few ways I'm going to show you today on how to reduce puffiness.
So here we have Leisel, she's our model today and Leisel's concern is puffiness underneath the eyes. So that's what we're going to address. I'm going to show Leisel a few things to do in the morning, quick things, that can help reduce that puffiness. The first thing you should do is splash a ton of cold water on your face as soon as you get up in the morning. It dilates the vessels of the skin and it immediately shrinks the pores so that it does reduce puffiness right away. Another thing that you can do is take two slices of cucumber. You can put them in a Ziplock bag and freeze them. Take them out, lay down, keep your head propped up on a pillow and just place the cucumber over your eye for about ten minutes. That will reduce puffiness almost immediately. Take that off.
Another technique are eye patches. There's a couple different names for them. You can refer to them as eye sheets or treatment masks for the eye. And what they are are infused with retinol, ginseng, other wonderful ingredients that help puffiness and dark circles. And this patch you can place right underneath the eye as close as you can get it. The smaller part going into the tear duct of the eye. Placing that out...and the ingrediants on the patch are literally just right on the skin, are sinking in and helping to depuff and decongest that area. You will leave that on for fifteen minutes.
Okay it's been fifteen minutes. We're going to take off the eye patches now. The ginseng is an instant tightening effect to the eye patch to the skin. And the retinol helps to reduce fine lines which is a vitamin A derivative. And the concentrated ingrediants are still on the skin. So we're just going to pat the skin and leave the ingrediants on. We're not going to remove that.
Now, I'm going to take my eye cream. And I love using an eye cream that has rosemary or mint herbal base to it because that reduces puffiness. So we just going to add a small amount to each eye.
And something you can do if you have just a few extra minutes in the morning is do a mini-massage, sweeping inward through the ocular bone. It's very decongesting and it helps to reduce that puffiness as well. So close your eyes Leisel. And this of course is something you can do on yourself. The skin is very delicate in this area so use your middle finger. It has the least amount of pressure. So you're going to sweep inward around the ocular bone and in. Doing this for three to five minutes in the morning. This is great if you have puffiness caused by allergies, lack of sleep, by just generally feeling puffy under there. This is going to create circulation and movement in that area. I visibly see a difference in this area. It looks more taut and it leaves the skin very dewy and moisturized which is--you know if you're puffy hydration is very, very important. Drink lots of water as well in the morning.
