How to shoot your own funny pet videos Rumor has it that people spend hours watching pet videos online. (Not that we've ever done such a thing.) Digital filmmaker and YouTube sensation Joe Penna shares a few tips for how to make funny pet videos.
  • Shoot in HD, because the colors are brighter and you can see much more detail.
  • Pets don't always perform on cue, so make sure to have your camera at the ready to capture those cute & funny moments.
  • To share the video online, simply plug the camera into your computer, choose which clip you want, go to YouTube, type in your user information, and then hit "Upload."
Transcript JOE PENNA: Hey guys, I'm Joe. Some of the most popular stuff on sites like YouTube are pet videos like this one. So I want to show you the best way to capture funny moments like these in HD.

It's best to shoot in HD, because the colors are brighter. Plus you'll be able to see much more detail than if you were using a standard def camera. For example, this is standard definition, and this is HD! See? So much more detail!

You guys may not have known this, but I have a pet. His name is Rex. Come here, Rex! Come here, boy! Come here, boy! Come here!

Let's see some funny tricks Rex can do. Good boy! Sit down! Sit down, boy! Sit down! No? Okay, he's a little camera shy. Roll over! Roll over, Rex! Roll over! Just a second; he knows this one. Play dead, boy! Play dead! Play dead! Lay down!

I guess sometimes they don't want to perform for you, so always make sure to have your camera around and ready.

If you do happen to capture something funny, like this clip of me rocking out with my pony, you can show it instantly to your friends by using the playback directly on the camera.

Alright, you have the funny moment captured, now you need to share it. This part's easy; you just plug it in, choose which clip you want, type in your user information, and then just hit "Upload."

And stay! Good boy!

Thank you for watching, and make sure you guys check out my videos on Making Videos at sony.com/howdini.
