celebrations blogSuper Bowl of cocktails: Orange vs. Green

Cocktail Bowl 2014
If you are looking for a Super Bowl party game and you want your gathering to stray from the classic beers. Offer your guests a choice of these two signature cocktails–the  Monstre Verte or The Weeski–and organize your own Cocktail Bowl. Obviously, the Monstre Verte will be the Seahawks' fan choice since lime green is one of their colors. The Weeski, on the other side, is the Broncos orange color (and flavor).

While the gin and lime flavor of the Monstre Verte are a really classic formation, it also take advantage of basil and Chartreuse which could be real game changers in this confrontation with this serious opponent that is the Weeski.

This one, by the way, should not be outdone. It has some serious assets named whiskey, Lillet, Cointreau and Truth Orange Bitters, four veterans of the cocktail game which have proved their values in other cocktails.

Here is the line-up for each cocktail in this epic match-up:

Monstre Verte (Head Coach/Mixologist: Jamie Boudreau):
1 1/2 oz Plymouth Gin
1/2 oz Green Chartreuse
1/4 oz lime juice
1/4 oz simple syrup
3 - 4 sprigs basil
(video step-by-step here)

Weeski (Head Coach/Mixologist: Robert Hess):
2 oz Irish whiskey
1 oz Lillet Blanc
1/4 oz Cointreau
2 dashes Bitter Truth Orange Bitters
(video step-by-step here)

It’s really hard to guess which one will win, the odds are really tight and you’re the only one who can decide the fate of this Cocktail Bowl!

You can even rename two of our recipes, the Broncos' chicken cheesy dip and the Seahawks' Guacamole and keep the theme going.
