style blogFall dressing: a lesson in layering

How to wear a leather jacket (for women)
I've recently had the good fortune of getting to live and work in San Francisco, after spending almost 9 years in New York. I left the east coast after a sticky, sweaty, harrowing couple of summer months, and could not even conceive of preparing for cooler weather. Packing up wool and cashmere in 90 degrees? No, way!

But here I am in beautiful, blustery, humidity-less northern California a little colder, but blissfully sweat-free! And best of all, its got me thinking about fall, my favorite season for dressing. The weather here can change even as you move through the neighborhoods (and elevations). This means being prepared for anything. The best solution for this is the staple of autumn dressing: layers! These are great for fashion and function and will take you through the seasons, whatever zip code you happen to be living in! My must-haves include a chambray shirt, a lightweight jacket and the ultimate go-to accessory, a scarf. Keep these stowed away in your tote for everyday use in cooler climates or waiting in your closet for when the temperature finally dips.
