How to manage asthma
Having an asthma attack is very frightening. There are measures you can take to avoid asthma attacks.- If you have really bad asthma you should speak to your lung specialist or allergist about carrying an epi-pen and what kind of inhalers to use to avoid an asthma attack.
- Where and how you live can play a role in your asthma.
- People who work around chemicals or any agent that is inflammatory to the upper and lower airway are going to be more sensitive if they are an asthmatic.
- Exercise-induced asthma can sometimes be minimized by treating allergies or acid reflux disease.
- Speak to your physician to determine which inhalers or medicines are best for you to treat your asthma.
- Nebulizers can be used depending on the severity of the attack, as well as certain oral medicines that can treat your asthma.
- Asthma can get worse and it can get better over time.
- If you are a parent with a child who has asthma it is important to speak to your pediatrician, lung specialist, ear nose and throat doctor or allergist to first help keep the asthma under control. Second, know what to do to stay on top of it. Lastly, know what to do if an asthma attack gets out of control and what to do to bring it back under control.
