How to incorporate healthy fats into your diet
- Omega 3 fats from fish are good fats.
- Fats in olive oil, nuts and seeds are extremely healthy and reduce chances of heart disease.
- Stay away from saturated fats and trans fats in meats and cheeses.
- Choose low fat or non-fat dairy products.
- Keep the total amount of trans fats and saturated fats to less than 10% of total calories.
- Eat two to three servings of fish every week for Omega 3 and DHA servings.
- If you can’t eat fish two to three times a week look for foods that are fortified with algae-based DHA.
- Too much fish oil can cause your blood to thin.
- Too much fat from olive oil and nuts will cause an increase in calories.
