How to buy champagne at every price range

For the young college graduate looking to make a grand impression without spending a grand:

    • Pommery or Nicolas Feuillatte

For a slightly more expensive, but still affordable champagne:

    • Veuve Clicquot or Moet et Chandon. Both are safe, very good choices.

For an unforgettable bottle that is more expensive:

    • Krug Grand Cuvee. It will cost about $150-200 per bottle, but you'll never forget it.

How to buy champagne at every price range

LISA:  I’m Lisa Birnbach for howdini.com if your plans involve a romantic dinner you might be in the market for a nice bottle of champagne. And the good news is you don’t have to spend a lot of money to get a great bottle. Olivier Magny, a professional wine expert and owner of a wine tasting club in Paris is here to give us some suggestions. Bonjour.

    OLIVIER:  Bonjour Lisa.

LISA:  Olivier, you just graduated from college, you don’t have a lot of money, but you have a girlfriend you want to impress, is there a low price champagne that you can also buy?

OLIVIER:  Yeah. Absolutely. You can go towards Pommery or Nicolas Feillatte good value, no problem.

LISA:  Okay great, what about middle priced champagne?

OLIVIER:  A middle price champagne you can go towards Veuve Clicquot Ponsardin, or for instance Moet and Chandon. Those are really always safe and good.

LISA:  Okay, a really top of the line champagne, what do you recommend?

OLIVIER:  I’m a huge fan of Krug especially the Grande Cuvee from Krug. Expect a good one-fifty to two hundred dollars for one bottle, but it’s a moment you’ll never forget.

    LISA:  So it works?

    OLIVIER:  It works for me.

    LISA:  Thank you, Olivier.

OLIVIER:  Thank you very much Lisa.

LISA:  For howdini.com I’m Lisa Birnbach.
