How to buy silver jewelry
Sterling silver jewelry is very affordable and there are many different designs. So the most important thing to remember is to get good quality. It should be 92.5% sterling silver. On the back of most jewelry there will be either a 925 or .925 marking, and that means its 92.5 per cent pure silver. The rest is alloys, other metals. There may also be a hallmark, which is the manufacturer’s sign that says this is sterling silver.
Tips for buying silver jewelry:
- Sterling silver is marked 92.5 or .925 to indicate purity.
- Also look for the manufacturer’s hallmark on the back.
- Make sure clasps and links are properly constructed.

How to buy silver jewelry
Hello I'm Helena Krodel for Jewelry Information Center for howdini.com. Today we're going to be talking about how to buy sterling silver jewelry. Sterling silver is very affordable and there's many different designs. So the most important thing to remember when shopping for sterling silver is the quality. And that should be 92.5% sterling silver. Now on the back of most pieces of jewelry you'll see that there's either a 925 or a .925 and that means it's 92.5% pure silver. The other 7.5 is alloy and other metals. Now also when you look on the back next to a trademark, you'll also sometimes see a hallmark. And that is the manufacturer's mark that says this is something you can stand by and know that it's pure silver or almost pure silver.
Quality of construction is also very important when shopping for silver jewelry. You should look at the clasp and make that is works properly. And if it's a chain, make sure that the chains are all cohesive and very much the same. And that's the most important thing when shopping for sterling silver jewelry.
