How to buy gold jewelry
- The most important thing to remember when buying gold jewelry is the purity. Pure gold is 24 carat gold. This is 99.9 percent pure gold.
- Sometimes gold combined with other metals to make it stronger or more affordable.
- Look on the back of a piece for a marking. It will show you how much pure gold is in that piece of jewelry. It may say 18k, which is 75% gold, or 14k, which is 58.5% gold.
- When gold is combined with different alloys it can create different colors of gold. There is white gold, but jewelery makers also have the ability to change the color to rose, or green or even brownish gold.
