You usually don't know it's time to replace windshield wiper blades until you're in a rainstorm and you find they're not working. If you want to avoid this dangerous and scary situation by replacing the wiper blades in advance, here's how from AAA's Allan Stanley.

How to replace windshield wiper blades
- It’s time to replace your windshield wiper blades when they don't clean the windows very well and leave streaks on the glass.
- If blades are in pretty good shape and don't need replacement, just take a rag soaked with vinegar and clean the wiper blades to remove any road debris.
- If they DO need replacement, simply pull the blade up from the wiper arm and disconnect it. In most cases they snap right off — some models may be more difficult to get off — and many replacement blades have instructions right on the back of the package.
- Pay close attention to how they come off; that will help you get them back on.

Some models may be more difficult to get off. Pay close attention, that will help you put it back on. Also, replacement wiper blades may have the instructions on the back. We're going to take a rag soaked with vinegar and just clean this wiper blade, because it's in pretty good shape. That'll remove any road debris. Snap it back on in place. You'll know it's time to replace your windshield wiper blades when they don't clean the window too well. I'm Allan Stanley for howdini.com
