How to make your own valentines

Here are some easy craft ideas for making your own valentines.

    • Save the really special leftover ribbon from Christmas, spool it up, and write some love notes on it with a black Sharpie pen. Use a red envelope, leave a bit of ribbon peeking out.
    • For a special touch, you can use sentimental items from trips for your valentines. How about using a seashell you found on the beach together to make a fortune cookie valentine? As above, start with a pretty ribbon, write a love letter on it, roll it up and stick in inside a seashell. Leave a bit of ribbon sticking out, and as it unspools, it reveals your love note.
    • For a valentine craft that keeps on giving, you can make your own valentines in a tissue box. You write on each tissue by opening up the side of the box, write on each one, and stick them back in. Each pop up tissue has an ‘I love you message.’
    • Or go to the crafts store, get some foam core, decorate around the border with red feathers or something fun, then write on the foam core and you’ve got a big homemade valentine.
    • Finally, if you’re artsy, go to an art supply store, get a canvas, and paint a personal valentine on it.

How to make your own valentines

Hey there I’m Bruce Littlefield for howdini.com and today I’m going to talk to you about making some valentine’s. Did you know a hundred and ninety-two million valentine cards are sent each year? And other the ones that are most special are the ones that are made by hand. I got a few ideas for you. You know, I always wonder what to do with the left over ribbon from Christmas, the kind that is so special you can’t seem to throw it away. Well, I spool mine up and use it to write some love notes on. So you take a black sharpie pen, write on the back, easy to read, lots of fun. And then take a regular red envelope tuck a little of the ribbon outside, write to your love on the front, and you have a very special valentine. Speaking of special, sometimes you take trips, sentimental trips that you’ve taken and you don’t quite know what to do with the seashells that you’ve picked up on the seashore. Well I’ve got an idea also using some ribbon. Make a little seashell fortune cookie, take your ribbon and tuck it inside, and then your love has a lovely letter from inside a memorable seashell. You’re probably wondering what I’m doing with the tissues on the table. Well, believe it or not this is a love letter. And inside, hello, I love you. The second one, you make me smile. Write on your tissues it’s quite easy to do. Open up the side of the box, and one by one peal and write, stick them back in and you have great valentines that will keep on giving. And if you are the crafty sort maybe you want to get some foam cord, make your own card. Use a little bit of feathers from a dolor store and create a crafty little valentine’s all your own. Its really easy to do, you basically take foam cord, cut it to the size that you like, and attach some feathers either using tape or a crafty glue gun. Be careful not to burn yourself. And then after you do that write a lovely love note, and you’ve got a great card. I have one more idea, you might go to your local arts supply store, get a canvas, and create a beautiful painted valentines card. You are loved, and I’m Bruce Littlefield for howdini.com
