How to get a celebrity red carpet makeup look
Hi, I'm Jessica Harlow, and today I'm in Los Angeles, surrounded by the glamour of Hollywood. And I'm inspired to create my own red carpet makeup look.
Before we begin, you want to make sure that you have all of your stuff ready. Makeup, brushes, a mirror, and an HD video camera. I've got mine on a little stand. You'll also need to set up good lighting. If your camcorder has a built in light like this one, make sure it's turned on. Steady your camera so that you're facing the lens. The great thing about this is that it has an additional screen on the front that faces you, so that while you speak, you can actually see yourself. So let's get started.
OK. So I'm going to go for a nice, classic smokey eye. So I'm going to go ahead and grab this gray eyeshadow right here with this flat, fluffy brush. Tap off the excess. Start right close to where my lashes are. If anything falls down on your cheek, don't worry. We'll brush it off later. Just starting with a general shape first, and then we're going to blend it out. So don't worry if it looks a little crazy right now. I'm just going to blend it with a fluffy brush. I'm just going to dust off that fallout, because it was bothering me.
So then I'm just going to take this soft brown right here, and work that right in to where your eye creases. Next you want to highlight your eyes at the inner portions, so that you can look wide awake. This is a nice little shimmery highlight. And make sure you're blending.
I'm just going to take a black pencil liner and line along my top lash line. And it's pretty cool, because I can actually see myself right in the front screen. Next I'm going to apply some mascara.
Then go ahead and apply a little bit of blush and some lip gloss. So you might want to go a little bit heavier with the blush, but choose a soft color. The reason why you want to go a little bit heavier is if you're going to be taking photos, you want the color to actually show. Apply some gloss. And that's it. You're done.
Now that you've completed your glam look, you can easily upload your video onto your computer to share with your family and friends. And don't forget to pop your compact and gloss in your purse to touch up your look during the night. And your camera so you'll be ready to get video and snapshots of your big night out.
