What are the best noise cancelling headphones for you?

Hi, I'm Veronica Belmont. And today, I'm going to talk about noise canceling headphones, and help you identify which one is right for you.

Noise canceling headphone technology varies from brand to brand and, like anything else, comes in all different shapes, sizes, quality, and price. Quality headphones like these have a microphone inside each earpiece that works with electronic circuitry to create an opposite sound wave to reduce the incoming sound wave or noise. In fact, select models can reduce up to 99% of ambient noise when the noise canceling circuit is activated.

In general, though, there are three types of noise canceling headphones: earbud, on ear, and over ear. This video will discuss the benefits and differences in sound quality each have to offer, starting with the smallest one, earbuds.

Noise canceling earbuds, like regular earbuds, are great because they're lightweight, compact, and extremely portable. The fact that they're so compact, lightweight, and fit inside your ear cavity makes them ideal for activities such as working out.

The second type of noise canceling headphone is on ear. Typically, on ear headphones provide more long-term comfort than earbuds because they sit on top of the ear rather than inside. Although not as portable as earbuds, select models like these here fold up, making them compact and easy to travel with. Similar to earbuds, on ear headphones reduce ambient noise. And as a result, the volume doesn't need to be set as loud.

The third type of noise canceling headphone is over ear. As you can probably guess, over ear headphones deliver the best possible sound quality and noise canceling technology available. They feature large, soft cushions that fit around the outside of your ear, which block out the maximum amount of background noise. That way, you can hear only what you want to hear, great music or nearly nothing. Over ear styles tend to be best suited for frequent travelers really looking for maximum noise reduction, so they can concentrate, sleep, and relax even on the noisiest of planes or train stations.

If you're looking for the best in noise reduction and sound quality, and size and compactness aren't an issue for you, these are definitely the way to go. The primary use of your noise canceling headphones will help determine the best option for you.
