How to choose the best portable iPhone/iPod speakers

Hi there. I'm Dave Days, and it's the perfect day to be outside, sun is out, it's warm, and I'm stuck in here? Well, not for long. I'm going to show you the best way to get your music outside and out loud with a portable iPod dock. iPod docks are great. They offer pretty killer sound in a relatively small package. But if you're looking for a way to take the party with you to the park, beach, or even just your backyard, there are few things you want to look for when you buy a dock.

The main thing is obviously going to be this. All docks can plug into a wall outlet. But if you're at the beach or a park, where are you going to find one of those? Well, my friend, you're not. So you need to buy an iPod dock like this one that uses standard AAA batteries and could pump out up to 10 hours of continuous music. That's plenty of time to rock out in the sun. Not every iPod dock can run on batteries though, so double check if portability is a big thing for you.

Another option is an iPod dock with a rechargeable lithium ion battery, like this one right over here. The handy battery level indicator on the display will let you know how much juice you have left so you can make sure to charge up before heading out for the day. Once you're outside, it's easy to start rocking the beats. Just drop it in and you're ready to go. These come with a remote, right here, so I could be off doing my thing and still have full control of my tunes. And if you're not in the mood to listen to your iPod, some portable docks come with an FM tuner so you can listen to your favorite local radio station. This one has 10 station presets so you can easily access your radio, talk, and music programming.

So that's the story. Portable, battery-powered iPod docks give you serious freedom to enjoy a rich powerful sound anywhere, indoors or out. OK. The great outdoors is calling, and I've got go to catch some rays. I'll see you guys later. I'm Dave for Sony with Howdini. For more information visit sony.com/howdini.
