How to connect your HDTV to the Internet
VERONICA BELMONT: Hi there. I'm Veronica Belmont. Today we're going to show you how to access online entertainment through your HDTV or Blu-Ray disc player.
I used to have to hookup my computer to my TV to watch online movies and videos, but now a lot of HDTVs and Blu-Ray disc players, like these shown here, come with the Internet streaming capabilities.
All you need is a broadband connection.
Some products make it easy to connect by letting you connect wirelessly to your home network, and others will require a hard-wire Ethernet connection.
Luckily, both of these products have built-in Wi-Fi, so we don't have to worry about the hassle of cables.
If your HDTV or Blu-Ray disc player is Wi-Fi ready, meaning the Wi-Fi is not built into the product, be sure to purchase a Wi-Fi adapter.
If your device is not Wi-Fi enabled, no worries, just connect via ethernet cable.
Both of these devices make it easy to connect to your home network with simple on-screen instructions.
You'll be connected and ready to enjoy your favorite online entertainment in no time.
Once connected, find the Internet streaming function, and pull up the menu to begin browsing.
You'll see a variety of available entertainment from a huge list of providers, like NetFlicks, YouTube, and Pandora, just to name a few.
These give you access to all sorts of entertainment options right on your TV.
You can stream thousands of hit movies, TV shows, music, videos, and more.
You'll never run out of cat videos--I mean--things to watch.
Another advantage of being connected to your home network is so you can access photos, videos, and music, right from your computer.
So make sure you're connected to the Internet, that is, and enjoy more entertainment on your HDTV and Blu-Ray disc player than you can imagine.
I'm Veronica Belmont with Sony for Howdini.
