    How to make a music video

    No need to hire a camera crew to film your band's music video. You can shoot a great HD version with a camera small enough to fit in your pocket.  Digital filmmaker and internet video sensation Joe Penna shares  great tips for how to shoot a music video that can be easily uploaded to the Internet.

    • Use a small video camera with a swivel lens.
    • Have the band play a couple times so you can shoot the performance from different angles. 
    • Get lots of different shots like close-ups of fingers strumming the guitar, wide shots and medium shots so you have plenty of footage to choose from.
    • Also, make sure to take some candid photos of the band in action. You can use these pictures as a promotional tactic for your band, like uploading them to Facebook and sending them to your fans.

    How to make a music video

    JOE PENNA: Hey, I'm Joe. Check out this little camera. Let me show you how to make a cool video of your band in high definition, using this little guy.

    Hey, I'm Joe, and I'll be playing the drums.

    Hey, I'm Joe, and I'll be playing the guitar.

    What's up? I'm Joe, and I'm playing the bass.

    Hey, I'm Joe, and I'm playing lead guitar.

    These guys are gonna be great!

    The swivel lens makes it easy. No one from the band needs to leave the shot.

    You can keep on playing.

    Make sure you get the band to play a couple times so you have all the shots you need.

    Get some cool angles to make the video more interesting.

    Get a lot of different shots like close-ups of fingers strumming the guitar, wide shots, medium shots. Get the entire band so you have a lot of footage to choose from.

    You can use the playback feature to check out all the shots you've already captured.

    This camera takes both video and still pictures so make sure you get some candid photos of the band.

    You can use these pictures as a promotional tactic for your band, like uploading them to Facebook and sending them to your fans.
