How to buy a digital video camera: why buy HD?

With all of the new technological advancements in home electronics and the increasing popularity of HD televisions and Blu-ray Disc players, Nigel Barker gives us some great reasons why to consider upgrading to an HD video camera.

    • The appeal of an HD video camera lies in its excellent video quality.  HD camcorders shoot in 1920 x 1080 high definition video, which is the highest resolution available.  It’s also the format the pros prefer.
    • With newer HD camcorders, you can capture twice as many viewable colors, resulting in more natural and lifelike images.  The color experience is enhanced on the big screen and is very evident when you are able connect your HD camcorder directly to your HDTV for viewing.
    • Newer HD camcorders have built-in sensors that allow you to shoot in low light.  Typically, difficult low-light shots, including sunrises and sunsets, are now totally achievable using HD digital video cameras.
    • Once you’ve made the decision to upgrade to an HD camcorder, it will be important for you to take the time to get to know your camera, to get the best video results.
