Dr. Joseph Disa
Plastic Surgeon
- Dr. Joseph Disa is a plastic surgeon at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center. He specializes in reconstruction after surgery to remove a tumor, with a focus on breast reconstruction and reconstruction of the head and neck. His research interests include the relationship between radiation therapy and breast reconstruction and the role of microsurgery to enhance a patient's ability to swallow after pharyngolarengectomy (surgery to remove the throat and the voice box). Dr. Disa is also involved in teaching medical students, residents, fellows, and attending physicians from around the world the latest techniques in surgical reconstruction after cancer. He currently serves on the editorial board of the journal Annals of Plastic Surgery.
