Some of the most popular postings on Howdini’s YouTube channel, based on viewer comments, are the ones that demonstrate how to turn ordinary cakes into creative masterpieces. And it seems that our youngest viewers are especially enjoying these how-tos, like Mia and Ava, who sent us a note with their dad’s help. I guess if you yourself are cute and sweet, cakes that look like butterflies, bunnies, flip flops and princess castles are especially enticing. Not all the cakes are pink and fluffy; you can make a robot, guitar, building blocks, and my personal favorite: the train. That’s the one where you load the individual cars with candy as if they were transporting jelly beans or M&Ms right into your birthday party. A comment left on the page suggests that you can substitute fruit for the candy, to which I say: whaaaat?? Until I can convince NJ Transit that this could work on a larger scale, I’ll settle for this one, and the only strawberries I want to see on my birthday train are chocolate-covered.
