Site Etiquette & Usage
Howdini Rules for Commenting and Posting
We like to think of Howdini as a community and we want everybody to be able to hang out, say what they want, leave notes and messages on the billboards, and browse around. We welcome comments and are delighted to have them, as long as we all follow the House Rules, which are probably much like your own house rules, except that we don’t care if you put your feet on the furniture or drink milk from the container while you’re posting comments.
Here’s what we do care about:
Language. You may not submit any comment that includes abusive or offensive language, obscenities, hate speech, or is generally mean-spirited, impolite and/or obnoxious. No porn, no disrespect, no commercial content masquerading as comment posting. No harassing, no defaming, no recommending illegal activity. No user name that is obscene or offensive.
No spamming, natch. Also, please, no external website links in your comments.
And for your own safety, please, don’t post personal information.
We think that usually, our commenters will post great suggestions and advice, but we can’t vouch for stuff we haven’t tested ourselves. So you’re on your own with unsolicited how to, and how not to do information.
If you post, you are agreeing to abide by Howdini’s rules, as set forth in the Terms and Conditions section.
Please don’t re-post the same comment. Nobody likes a person who repeats the same story over and over at a cocktail party, and we don’t want to read the same comment again and again either.
Please don’t post copyrighted material unless you own that copyright.
We want everybody to have a fun, peaceful, mellow time reading comments, including the Howdini editorial staff who moderate the comments. We don’t want to have to censor or ban anybody, but we will do what we have to keep the energy positive and friendly. So now you know.
Go forth and post.
